As security companies add new technologies to meet the demands of both the evolving threat landscape and a compressed market, it is important they try not to forget about the core security technologies that have been protecting businesses for decades. An increased focus on new protection technologies, both acquired and built by security vendors, if not managed in conjunction with solid core security technologies could mean a decrease or lack of focus in other areas – most likely in the basic protection areas that we’ve all relied on for years. And guess what – the people and organizations responsible for digital attacks and data theft know this all too well. It’s time to look at the core of the business to ensure it is properly protected – it’s time to get back to the basics.
