12 Aug 2009 SkyRecon Systems today announced that its StormShield Device Control System 5.1 received an overall rating of four out of five stars in a test that evaluated features, ease of use, performance, documentation, support and value for money. The evaluation focused on the StormShield Device Control System’s ability to deliver protection based on criteria set up by the reviewers. StormShield gives the organization the ability to leverage ActiveDirectory to set operational policies regarding these devices, for example blocking certain features such as the ability to copy and paste or burn CDs and DVDs. The product review emphasized StormShield’s strength in the areas of it being a full-featured solution in addition to its detailed documentation and simple-to-follow server installation. One critique of this solution was the complexity of using it as a stand-alone security system for peripheral devices relative to the level of protection it provides. However, the review went on to add how the product protected against unauthorized peripheral devices. The review concluded by pointing out that SkyRecon’s device control system was comprehensive throughout. Today’s announcement marks the third positive product review earned by SkyRecon technology and published by SC Magazine in the last five months. In the July issue of SC Magazine, StormShield Flexible Data Encryption 5.1 received an overall rating of five out of five stars in a group test that evaluated competitive data encryption products. StormShield also received five out of five stars and “pick of the litter” in a group test that reviewed endpoint security products in the April issue of SC Magazine.
